Vojtěch Podroužek

Vojtěch Podroužek studied the oboe at the Prague Conservatoire and the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Ostrava with two exchange semesters at the Utrecht's Conservatorium, where he took baroque oboe lessons as well. Later he entered the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Stuttgart. His interest in early music brought him to musicology studies at the Faculty of Arts at the Charles University in Prague. Since 2018 he has been studying in the composition class of Eduard Douša at the Prague Conservatoire. He attended many masterclasses with renowned oboist from abroad (Jean-Louis Capezzali, Jérôme Guichard, Maurice Bourgue, David Walter, Fabien Thouand, Jacques Tys and others) and masterclasses focused on early music interpretation with baroque oboe players (Marcel Plavec, Marek Niewiedział, Małgorzata Józefowska, Luise Haugk).

He was awarded at international oboe and composition competitions (1st and 2nd prize at the UFAM International Oboe Competition 2006 and 2008 in Paris, performing in the semi-final rounds of the Barbirolli International Oboe Competition 2017 on the Isle of Man and the International Oboe Competition of Japan 2018 in Tokyo, laureate of the Opus ignotum International Composition Competition 2019 and 2020 in Prague). He was member of the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra in Zlín and the National Theatre Orchestra in Prague. Since 2018 he has been the principal oboist of the Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice. As a soloist he performed with the Southbohemian Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of Karlovy Vary and Chamber Orchestra of Český Krumlov. As a baroque oboe player he has played with the Collegium Marianum ensemble, Czech Ensemble Baroque and Ensemble Inégal. He is a member of the Trio Auric ensemble.
