José Vicente Araña Rosales began his trumpet studies at the age of 12 in the Youth Music Band of the City of Arucas, his hometown in Gran Canaria. He finished his studies years later at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Canarias. He furthered his studies in Germany and Switzerland. He has attended Masterclasses with teachers such as Benjamín Moreno, Ilan Eshed, John Miller, Pierre Dutot, Hans Gansch, Markus Stockhausen, Reinhold Friedrich and a long etcetera.  

He is currently a teacher of brass and Head of Studies at the “Lucy Cabrera” Artistic School in Agaete. He has been trumpet soloist of the Municipal Band of Las Palmas de G.C. and the Municipal Band of Telde. He was a teacher for three years at the Conservatorio Insular de Música de Lanzarote. He regularly gives courses and masterclasses throughout the Canary Islands. Next May he will be touring Costa Rica and Guatemala with concerts and masterclasses. Founder of the I Festival de Jazz de Costa Teguise in Lanzarote. He is currently a member of the Gran Canaria Big Band, organizer of the International Trumpet Festival within the International Music Festival of Cancun-Mexico and Artistic Coordinator of the International Trumpet Festival of Maspalomas-Gran Canaria. Member of the ITG (International Trumpet Guild). 

He is a member and founder of the Gran Canaria Brass Quintet and is a regular guest of the Orquesta Nacional de España. He has performed, among other places, with the Croatian brass quintet Simply Brass in Zagreb (Croatia) and within “Die Lange Nacht der Trompete” organised by the soloist Otto Sauter in Eisenach (Germany), at the same time he has toured all over the Canary Islands, several cities in Spain and countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Croatia, Mexico.
