Violinist Monika Urbanová Růžková graduated at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague where she studied with Prof. I. Straus and L. Čepický. Previously, she studied with Prof. J. Foltýn and D. Zárubová at the Prague Conservatory. Monika’s awards include first prize at the violin competition of J. Muzika, third prize at the 2005 Competition of Czech Conservatories, first prize at the B. Martinů Competition in 2006, where she awarded a special prize for the best performance. She has attended the International Summer Academy Prague-Vienna-Budapest in Austria, the French-Czech Music Academy in Telč, Meadowmount school of music in the U.S.A. (2006, 2007 – Prof. Ch. Avsharian), Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander (2008 – Prof. Z. Bron, Prof. S. Markovici), 2009 Summer courses with P. Schumayer in Austria. She is a member of Eve Quartet and Pavel Haas Chamber Orchestra and since 2011 of Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, too. In the academic year 2009-2010 she studied in Vienna at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien in the violin class of Prof. P. Schumayer.
